Tour Description
Welcome to our most "Mediatic" Tour. You will learn about the importance of cinema and photography through the largest private collection of the Canary Islands that houses the historic Vandewalle House, located in one of the oldest and most representative mansions of the island, with its intact Mudejar roof, carved stone tiles and blue ceramic tiles from Delf, brought at the time from the Netherlands.
In the bowels of this mansion is one of the most precious collections, an endless number of priceless images and objects that perfectly reflect the history of cinema as it developed.
Photographs, audiovisual information on cultural themes of the Canary Islands... Many are the things that help us to show the evolution of the image from the proto-cinema to the latest trends, with our own productions.
From the Magic Lantern with its moving image glass plates, to the idealized views of the city of Santa Cruz de La Palma visualized through an optical box. To the panoramas and dioramas and the first cameras that filmed documentaries of the island. Optical toys, zootropes and phenakistoscopes with moving drawings... And this is just a foretaste of what awaits you there.
Also the Cine NIC, the children's cinema, "the magic of filmmaking" that gave the author of this collection a wink, many years ago, of the fascination for cinema. A journey that goes from the eight millimeter films to the digital format, with a proven sensitivity for the island landscape, scene of films and documentaries of long didactic scope.
